Born 1895 in Marbury, Cheshire
Son of Thomas and Elizabeth of Lawn Farm, Ruyton XI Towns
Brother to Thomas, William, Ada, John, Elizabeth, George, Frederick
His father was a Farmer and he was a farm labourer
His brothers served in the Royal Artillery and South Wales Borderers

He signed up for 12 years service in the Royal Navy in August 1913
Service in Submarines was on a voluntary basis as it was new and dangerous
He was killed in Action on 3rd December 1916 age 22, along with all hands when the E37 is believed to have struck a mine in the North Sea
