B4397 resurfacing FAQs (21 Aug – 15 Sept)

**PLEASE NOTE: Dates for the resurfacing have been amended to 21st August – 15th Sept**

The Parish Council has received info from Keir (Highways contractors for Shropshire Council) regarding the road resurfacing on the B4397. The Parish Council has no updates about the impact on bus service yet.

Please note all road closures are organised through Shropshire Council, who can be reached by phone on 0345 6789006, or you can email the Streetworks Team here.

Where is the work?

We will be undertaking this work with a road closure on the B4397. Please note access/egress for properties within the closure will be maintained when safe to do so. Please see the attached image at the bottom of this post for a map of the closed section and diversion route.

When will this work take place?

This work will take from Monday 21 August to Friday 15 September (amended dates) and we will be working Monday to Friday between 9 30am and 4pm

Please note that all our planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Any changes will be displayed on the yellow advanced warning signs and https://one.network/

How will this affect traffic?

Signs will be erected on the road before starting the work and the work will be completed as quickly as possible. A signed diversion route will be in place.

During the closure we would advise all motorists to use the signed diversion route, which has been agreed with Shropshire Council as we’ve carefully chosen this with suitability and safety in mind. We would also encourage all drivers to adhere to speed limits and follow appropriate signage to ensure the safety of those working on site and fellow road users. If you are travelling during this time, please make sure you plan in advance and allow extra time for your journeys.

Please note that all our planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. We’ll maintain access to businesses and residential properties within the closure.

Full details of work to be carried out in the area can be found on https://one.network/

Will there be access to my property/business?

Yes, if you are looking to access a property or business with the closure, we will provide access for you when safe to do so. If your property falls out of the closure area a signed diversion route will be in place to follow.

We will have staff on site who can assist with access. Our priority is to keep you and our staff safe, this means that there may be a bit of a wait while we make the site safe for you to travel through the closure or direct you to another entry point.

During the work access to the works area will be restricted to:

  • Essential highway personnel
  • residents who live and reside within the road closure
  • Businesses located within the closure (if applicable)
  • Pedestrians, dismounted cyclists and equestrians
  • Emergency service vehicles

How can you help us?

It would be appreciated if you could ensure vehicles are not parked on the road during the day whilst the work is in progress. Please be mindful that we can only provide access for properties/businesses within the work area. Should this cause any problems or concerns then please do not hesitate to call the number below or speak to our team on-site.
